Dreaming Up the Cast of Silver Echoes!, Part I

My new novel, Silver Echoes, takes us on a wild ride through the Roaring Twenties, from Denver to Chicago and back to Leadville, Colorado, following the tumultuous life of Silver Dollar Tabor and her mother. It’s a story bursting with ambition, betrayal, love, and a quest for identity, and as I read it, I couldn't help but picture which modern movie stars would bring these incredible characters to life on the big screen.

So, grab your popcorn, because here’s my dream cast for a Silver Echoes movie adaptation, complete with a little fun and flair!

Silver Dollar Tabor / Echo LaVode / Sister Rose Mary: Anya Taylor-Joy

Why she's perfect: Silver Dollar has very long brown hair. She is a force of nature—a dazzling performer with a hidden vulnerability, a woman who reinvents herself multiple times, and ultimately finds peace as Sister Rose Mary. Anya Taylor-Joy has that ethereal, captivating quality that would make her perfect for Silver Dollar’s stage presence, especially as Echo LaVode. She can convey immense emotional depth and has proven her versatility across genres, from the intensity of The Queen's Gambit to the period charm of Emma. Her ability to transform physically and emotionally would beautifully capture Silver’s journey from a naive daredevil to a hardened performer and finally to a serene nun.

Baby Doe Tabor: Sally Field

Why she's perfect: Baby Doe is the resilient matriarch, a woman who has seen immense wealth and devastating loss, yet holds onto her faith and love for her family. She has once-golden hair but often wears a miner's hat. Sally Field possesses an incredible ability to portray strength, warmth, and a deep well of emotion. Imagine her capturing Baby Doe's quiet determination as she fights for the Matchless Mine, her heartbreak over her daughters, and her enduring love for Horace. She brings a grounded, authentic presence to every role, which would perfectly suit Baby Doe's salt-of-the-earth wisdom.
